For my eight years
of active club photography, I have tried a little of most things.
Now I find,
that at long last, I am beginning to develop a notion of what “I
most want to do”. Top of the list is landscape where
Scotland gives me so many opportunities. I have also had the
opportunity
to experience contrasting landscapes when on holiday abroad or
visiting family overseas. Apart from landscape, I like photographing
flowers and applying a
watercolour type filter to the image. black
and white is an area I am very enthusiastic about and I
am keen
to do more of.
I have enjoyed the restrained competitive element of the work
at Queens Park Camera Club where it is not the end of the world
if you are not placed but the competitions goad you into entering
and trying to improve all the time. I also like to enter district
and Scottish events as well as other open competitions. Successes
have been few but when a good mark is achieved or an image accepted,
it encourages you to go back for more.
Doing the “Licentiate” level of the Royal
Photographic Society and the “Credit” level of the Photographic
Alliance of Great Britain have been useful hurdles to try and achieve.
(The next levels of each are more elusive.)
Most of all, I am having fun, learning and enjoying the challenge! |
