Robbie Says
| Dear Friends,
‘A Sense of Easter’ is the theme this
year’s joint Holy Week services at the High Church. These
joint services have been well received over the past few years and
allowed us to enjoy, not only a variety of worship, but also fellowship
with brothers and sisters in the town centre.
I do hope that more of you will be able to take time to journey
with us as we, in turn, journey with Jesus through a week when we
focus on Jesus’ journey to the cross and the way in which
he freely endured that cross for each one of us.

Jesus’ human needs were at their greatest as he drew closer
to his cross for they were dark days.
During our time together we will look closely at him, at some
of the characters around him and at ourselves to see what all
of the events, especially the cross, mean for us today. Jesus
was there for others and we need only take a look at the Gospels
to realise that. But, when he was in need at a most distressing
time, who was there for him? Who ministered to him? Who held his
hand? The reaction of those closest to him was quite diverse and
his support came from the most unexpected place. And those who
had said they'd always be there were quick to deny any knowledge
of him. Journeying from Bethany to Golgotha, visiting the upper
room and the Garden of Gethsemane on the way, allows us to reflect
on what Christ can offer to each one of us, as he endured the
dark times such as we often know.
But more than that, it allows us to see a reflection of ourselves
and our willingness, or unwillingness, to become more sensitive
to the needs of those around us. As Christians, we enjoy a personal
relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and, through that, enjoy
him bringing joy and fulfilment into our lives. Yet, we must also
remember that we have a part to play in bringing a comfort to
those who are in need along with an understanding of the freedom
that the Easter message brings to all of God's people.
May you know the Lord Jesus travelling with you in your dark days
and your sunny days, and may you walk with each other with the
mutual support and understanding that comes from a knowledge of
the love of God in your lives.
Your friend and minister
